Acas and the Employment Tribunal

How internal workplace routes, early conciliation and the independent tribunal system fit together.

The normal route in the current DWS settlement is internal appeal or review, Acas early conciliation, Employment Tribunal and then Employment Appeal Tribunal where an appeal lies.

The Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal are courts-and-tribunals machinery administered through the Ministry of Justice and LL Courts & Tribunals Service. They are not Acas bodies.

Acas can help parties explore settlement and maintain the required conciliation record. It does not make tribunal decisions and a notification to Acas is not a tribunal claim.
