About Acas

An independent and impartial executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Work and Skills.

Acas supports better employment relations in United Hampshire public-service and recognised civic-work settings. It provides impartial advice, early conciliation and dispute-resolution services.

Acas is governed separately from DWS operational management so it can act impartially between parties. DWS sponsorship provides the public-body, finance and accountability relationship but does not make Acas a departmental dispute team.

Acas is not Career Services and has no institutional continuity with the former HRC Career Services model. Its authority and responsibilities arise from the current DWS settlement and applicable law and framework arrangements.
