Early conciliation
Notify Acas about an eligible workplace dispute so an impartial conciliator can explore whether agreement is possible.
Early conciliation usually follows the organisation’s own grievance, appeal or review route and comes before an Employment Tribunal claim. It gives both sides an opportunity to discuss the dispute with an impartial Acas conciliator.
Acas does not represent either party, decide who is right or force a settlement. If agreement cannot be reached, the case may close with the appropriate record or certificate for the next route where current procedure requires it.
Submitting a notification does not itself start an Employment Tribunal claim.
